• One of the earliest treatises, if not the earliest, printed in Mexico on fencing and specifically fencing with sabers. The author was a “maestro de todas armas examinado, aprobado y titulado por el superior gobierno de Nueva España.” The detailed text here is illustrated with 13 plates (placed at the end of the volume) drawn by P. Patiño and engraved by the great Mexican engraver Manuel Araoz.

Provenance: Ownership stamp on several pages, partially erased or eradicated, the remnants showing that owner to have been himself a fencing master. See title-page image, above.
