Famous late 18th-century work is this Savoyard's most famous publication. It is an autobiographical narrative of the arrest of a young officer who is forced to stay in his room for 42 days. To pass the time he describes each element of his room. "I undertook and executed a forty-two day trip around my room, and the interesting observations I made, and the continual pleasure I felt along the way, made me want to make it public, the certainty of being useful has made me decide." In French, printed in with some interesting elements in red, an engraved title-page and frontispiece portrait (with tissue guard), and black, exquisitely designed by Bruce Rogers.
