First edition of the description of Ampère’s electro-mechanical
device as used in his early experiments in electrodynamics, which experiments
had some medical import (two of the copies reported are in medical libraries).

copies are reported as owned by U.S. libraries, two of those copies being
incomplete (one lacking the title-page, the other the plate). Three of the
copies were at one time owned by the indefatigable collector Bern Dibner!
Uncut copy in recent plain wrappers old style (portion of original
wrapper preserved and laid in). Plate repaired along one fold (virtually invisible),
and one leaf with fore-edge expertly reinforced; dust-soiling. Now housed in
a neat cloth clamshell case with red leather spine labels.
